Ear Protectors

Ear Protectors are one of the most important pieces of safety equipment that you can wear in a noisy environment. There are just a few things in life which money can’t buy. The first one is your sight, which is probably the most important sense that we have. To protect the eyes safety glasses and face masks are a great idea. Protecting your body can be done with a massive range of occupation and health safety items like gloves, long sleeved shirts, steel cap boots and many other items. The last and also highly important sense that the human body has is hearing. This is something which starts off great, with the ability to hear everything we need to. Through use and abuse, the hearing of the average person declines as you age.

Those who work in loud buildings or areas find that their hearing decreases in quality much faster. Of course, if you take the time to wear your ear protectors all of the time, you will stop almost all of the hearing loss. When you are old and you can still hear everyone, you will realize how valuable it was to wear the ear muffs and Foam Ear Plugs. So many people don’t wear these, and unfortunately for them the only way they learn is in hindsight. By this time it’s too late, and they have to put up with wearing big, bulky and annoying hearing aids which malfunction and are not natural for the human body.

Ear Protectors are usually divided between Ear Plugs and Ear Muffs. You can get several variations of each of these, which have their own advantages and disadvantages. For areas where the noise isn’t too loud, you can get away with wearing ear plugs. These are cheaper, disposable, easy to use and more comfortable than ear muffs, but they don’t block out as much sound. If you are working in a very noisy area then ear muffs are a much better option. Of course, consult the information on the products that you buy and the sound levels in your work place.

The other alternative is Electronic Hearing Protection which is basically a small electronic device that works inside of ear muffs. This stops or softens any loud noises, and enables you to talk to people normally. These are considerably more expensive, but are highly popular amongst those who play loud sports. The only issue that I have with them is that they are not the most durable and strong items. For example, if you drop them in a work place you are likely to have to buy a new set, and at in between 40 – 1000 dollars this isn’t something that you want to be doing regularly.

Ear Protectors are in general quite cheap, and they will make your standard of living so much better at an older age if you use them all of the time, and correctly. Don’t kid yourself; every minute that you spend in an even slightly noisy environment is ruining your hearing. You can’t get that hearing back either; so be very careful when picking the right Hearing Protector.
